This stat is based on an 1800-person quantitative research study done by NM GSB, LLC, a Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company affiliate, in November 2020.
Those who took part were aged 20-45 years old and didn't have an active life insurance policy at the time of the Study. During the Study, participants were given a description of a standard digital, direct-to-consumer term life insurance policy and were asked to select the amount of coverage they think they needed. The average amount of coverage selected was $350,000 for a 30-year term.
The costs of plans offered by the three competitors who had the largest national market share in selling direct-to-consumer digital term life policies [Haven Life, Bestow, Ladder] was averaged to calculate the cost of a similar policy for $350,000 of coverage with a 30-year term.
Participants were then given a description of a personalized, digital, direct-to-consumer term life insurance policy and asked to create a plan that was based on their self-reported debts and financial needs. The average amount of coverage selected for a personalized term life insurance policy was $200,000 for a 30-year term.
Using the average calculated in the previous step using the top three market competitors, we compared Wysh's term life insurance pricing, resulting in a calculated 40% saving on premiums by creating a personalized term life insurance plan.

Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company cannot and will not force beneficiaries to spend the life insurance payout in any particular way. Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company customer service will be available to assist beneficiaries or, with their authorization, execute a payment to a third party—in performing any of the Wyshes outlined by the policyholder in their Wyshes. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Working with a bank to pay off a mortgage.
- Shooting ashes into space.
- Paying college tuition.
- Sending a pet to a new home.
- Putting money into an investment account.

To make a claim, we always need a completed claims form and a death certificate. Once we get these, our customer service team will verify all documents and work with the beneficiary to honor the deceased's Wyshes. We'll always try to work through these claims as quickly as possible; we aim to resolve claims within days of confirmation of the death. However, mitigating factors, including delays in receiving third-party verification and further investigation requirements of the death, may prevent us from doing this.

General
At Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company, we underwrite all policies electronically. The information is provided to us with user authorization and includes details such as medical history, prescription drug history, previous medical diagnoses, and other important medical factors. At this time, rejections based on doctor's visits and manual reviews are not a feature of our product, and we currently do not request or require applicants to retrieve additional medical info.
At Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company, we automate the underwriting process, application, and issuance of life insurance plans through our product, the Wysh app/website contingent on not opt-ing out of e-delivery and qualifying for fully digital underwriting. Users have the option to engage with our customer service through a live chat via our website, email, and telephone number—however, this is not a requirement.
Instant coverage means you can get covered under Wysh within minutes of confirming underwriting and signing your plan documents digitally and qualifying for fully digital underwriting. This is not a guarantee that you'll get a plan, and it does not mean that you can get coverage without underwriting. Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company requires underwriting and verification of user data for all individual term life coverage.
Wyshes are a feature of the Wysh app/website. Wyshes are a way for members to plan their insurance needs and communicate to their beneficiaries how they'd like their insurance benefit spent. While the beneficiary is under no legal obligation to honor the Wyshes, if the beneficiary agrees to honor them, Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company customer service representatives will attempt to fulfill the Wyshes to the best of their abilities and in accordance with known laws and limitations.
Custom Wyshes is a feature that allows users to input a unique Wysh of their choosing into the Wysh app. These Wyshes are not vetted or agreed to by Wysh at the time of purchase. Wysh Life and Health Insurance will not comply with any requests from beneficiaries or policyholders that could be seen as bullying, destructive, illegal, abusive, or damaging. Wysh Life and Health Insurance also does not take responsibility or make any explicit guarantee that all Wyshes will be fulfilled as documented in the Wysh app. The customer service representatives will assess the viability, reasonableness, and final cost of all Wyshes at the time a claim is made and work with the beneficiary to honor the Wyshes, as best as possible, if so requested.
Membership is a term we use to describe Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company policy holders and Wysh app users. We use this term because the experience we offer is ongoing, allowing customers to adjust coverage and modify Wyshes.
